"POCT1a" Interface

Sofia instruments with firmware version higher than v2.1 support the POCT1a protocol. The implementation includes:

  • Sending results to the LIS
  • Receiving clock updates
  • Receiving user list updates

Setup the POCT1a LIS interface

Within all Sofia instruments with firmware version higher than v2.1, the LIS Parameters are default set to ASTM and needs to be changed to the POCT1A setting. This POCT1a interface is configured by setting the LIS Parameters.

Set LIS Parameters

Based upon the recommendation of the LIS Coordinator or LIS Vendor:

  1. Set the LIS Address to the IP address of the external System.

  2. Set the Port Number that the external System is listening for Sofia to initiate a connection.

  3. Set Auto Send to On for results to automatically transmit to the external System after each test completes.

  4. Set Queue Results to On to allow results to be tagged for sending to the LIS. Every result performed After this setting is set to on is available to send to the LIS. Every result performed prior to turning this setting to On is not available to send to the LIS.

  5. For firmware version higher than v2.1, set the Standard to POCT1A to send results and receive clock and user updates.

  6. Select OK for the values to be saved and the menu to return to the Network Settings menu.

The Sofia POCT1a interface sends and receives data with the LIS and Middleware using the protocol for bi-directional communication in the Sofia LIS specification listed under the Interface Specifications link.
